What's New

Over the past few months RKG Associates has taken on several exciting new projects.  These include:

Downtown/Urban Revitalization

Memphis, Tennessee – Following RKG’s successful project to help the City redevelop its famous “Pyramid”, RKG has been selected to assist in creating a comprehensive mixed-use redevelopment plan for another part of the City’s downtown.

Norwalk, Connecticut -  RKG Associates is undertaking residential and retail market studies for two downtown revitalization areas.

Mixed-Use/Smart Growth

Quincy, Massachusetts – RKG is working on an urban renewal plan that is intended to significantly impact the downtown core area, bringing in new market-rate residential uses, first-class office space and supporting retail and parking facilities.

Kingston, Massachusetts -  RKG is working with a developer to forecast the fiscal impacts associated with a proposed mixed-used project located adjacent to a commuter rail station.  The project, which is being permitted under Massachusetts’ new 40R “Smart Growth” legislation, calls for up to 730 mixed-income housing units, 250,000 square feet of office and 50,000 square feet of village retail.

Transportation

Plainville, Connecticut - RKG is working as a sub-consultant to a major aviation planning firm to help evaluate the feasibility of a small Connecticut community acquiring a private general aviation airport for economic development purposes.

T. F. Green Airport, Rhode Island – RKG continues to work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals to evaluate and document the potential housing impacts associated with a planned runway expansion at this rapidly growing regional airport.

Londonderry, New Hampshire - RKG is assessing the social and economic impacts of a proposed new exit off of I-93 in this fast-growing southern New Hampshire community.

Military Base Closure and Expansion

Manhattan, Kansas - RKG Associates was selected to undertake a comprehensive master planning process for several communities impacted by the planned expansion of Fort Riley.  The realignment of military forces will result in the assignment of up to 25,000 new troops and their dependents to the region.

Athens, Georgia – RKG was recently chosen to develop the comprehensive Reuse Plan for the redevelopment of the Navy’s Supply Corp Training School.  This 58 acre facility located in downtown Athens, will be closing under the latest round of base closures.

New Boston, Texas – RKG has also been selected to do the Reuse Plan for the pending closure of the 15,000 acre Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant and major realignment of the adjacent Red River Army Depot.
