Urban Redevelopment Planning
Client: Arlington Redevelopment
Board and Symmes Advisory Committee
RKG Associates was retained to assist in the preparation of a comprehensive
redevelopment strategy for the former Symmes Hospital, a recently-closed
facility located on a prominent hill in Arlington, Massachusetts with
spectacular views of downtown Boston. RKG was responsible for preparing a
market study to determine which uses would meet the goals of the Arlington
Redevelopment Board, including both financial and non-financial goals. RKG
created a comprehensive financial model of the redevelopment alternatives
for the 18-acre site, which was ultimately provided to developers who
provided responses to the Town's Request for Development Proposals.
Subsequently, RKG was retained to evaluate the fiscal impacts of each
developer's proposal and to assist the Town in the developer selection and
