Interstate 81 Tier 1 EIS

RKG Associates was selected as part of a winning team to conduct a Tier 1 EIS for a 325-mile segment of Interstate 81 in Virginia, from the West Virginia to Tennessee border. Working with a team of consultants led by Vanasse, Hangen Brustlin, Inc. of Watertown, Massachusetts, RKG Associates is examining the social and multi-regional economic impacts associated with expanding the highway and its associated rail corridors. The Virginia Department of Transportation, under the Public-Private Transportation Act of 1995, is currently reviewing two competitive proposals, which would privatize the expansion and operation of this highway corridor.
